Eligibility

A current high school senior planning to enroll as a full-time student (12 semester hours or more) in an accredited two or four-year college or university in the U.S. for the 2017 – 2018 academic year.

Legally reside in New York City.

Possess at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Be able to demonstrate financial need.*

Type one essay based on the three essay topics shown below.

Be sure you electronically sign the release authorization at the bottom of the application page.

Email your resume as well as a copy of your unofficial transcript to isbrscholarship@gmail.com – Failure to submit this document will result in immediate disqualification.

Essay Topics

Essay 1- Describe a successful Islamic role model (e.g. a person in your own community, your family or a well-known public figure.) and discuss the characteristics and qualities that make him or her an effective leader. Describe the impact that this person has had on your personal development.

Essay 2– What do the hashtags #NoBanNoWall and #MuslimBan mean to you? How will your higher education affect your contribution to the likes of those effected by President Trump’s recent executive orders?

Essay 3– Describe a service or volunteer project in which you have participated. In your view, what were the underlying causes of the problem that you were trying to address (i.e. why was there a need for your service in the community?) What recommendations would you provide to the organization, the community or to public officials to address the problem?
Financial Need Statement– From a financial standpoint, what impact would this scholarship have on your education? This statement is optional.
